MICHAEL (MIKE) FLANN FAMILY HISTORY

MICHAEL FLANN AND GUNHILD JOHANSDATTEN RONNINGSAASEN

This comes from the oldest grandchild of Mike Flann, Margaret Solum McPherson of Seattle, Washington and from her mother Randi Mathilda Flann Solum, born January 18, 1883 at Lake Lillian, Minnesota to Mike and Gunhild Flann.

Left motherless at the age of 4, Mathilda lived with her uncle and aunt John Flann until the age of ten when Mike placed her with a family in Rice Lake, Wisc. to work for her board and room. At 18 she married my father Gustav Solum. They moved first to Merriel, Wisc., later to Oregon and Idaho where I was born January 22, 1911. Then to Montana and finally to the state of Washington in 1918.

Mike Flann remarried after Gunhild died. This second wife died in childbirth with the child, a son. Helena Oleson became his third wife.

MICHAEL FLANN AND HELENA OLESON

The following comes from Effie Flann Peterson, the second child of Mike and Helena.

Mike Flann was a carpenter by trade. He worked as a carpenter in Rice Lake, Wisconsin after marrying Helena Oleson. He worked at the Sash and Door Factory and also at a Cabinet Manufacturing Company making pieces of furniture.
